The MAX1232 functions as a microprocessor monitor and supervisor but uses a fraction of the power of other similar devices. By monitoring functions such as power supply and software execution and providing a reset signal and manual reset input debouncing, the device helps to improve microprocessor systems circuit reliability.
On conditions of power-up, power-down and low-voltage brownout a reset pulse of at least 250ms duration is output, and the supply tolerance is digitally selectable between 5% and 10%. The manual reset input also generates a ≥250ms reset signal. A digitally programmable watchdog timer provides a software execution monitoring function and can be programmed to reset on software timeout settings of 150, 600 or 1200ms.
This microprocessor monitor is ideal for a range of applications such as computers, controllers, intelligent instruments, automotive systems and critical microprocessor power monitoring.
