Product Description

The Lego City Volcano Crawler is a 324-piece set. It was released in 2016 as part of the Lego City series and includes a primary vehicle, 3 mini figures, each wearing a subdued, olive green explorer's outfit, and an ATV quad bike. Aspiring geologists and anyone who is fascinated with volcanoes is likely to enjoy this set, especially if used alongside other editions under Lego's volcano theme, for instance, the Lego City Volcano Exploration Truck (60121) and the Lego Volcano Exploration Base (60124). A new type of Lego piece is included in this set in the form of a large piece of molten hot rock. The transparent orange ball can be opened up to reveal a dark blue crystal inside and is ideal for bashing opening with a pick axe to see what lies within.

The main 'crawler' vehicle comes in the form of a truck that looks like it would have no problem driving over rocky, mountainous ground. It has a nice colour scheme and plenty of detail. Stickers are included with the pieces and these go a long way in enhancing the finer details of the truck. On the back of the vehicle, there are clips for attaching accessories. 2 such items that come with the set are a pick axe and a shovel and these are also designed so that the mini figures can hold them. The driver's seat is in an enclosed area and can fit one mini figure at a time.

A mini ATV or quad-type vehicle also comes as part of the Volcano Crawler set. The ATV has a short length of chain on the back that can be used to connect to different items. For example, it can be hooked up to the piece of magma rock to transport it elsewhere.

Overall this set offers plenty of opportunity for story-based play and has received decent reviews from Lego users, though some believe it to be a little overpriced for what's included. As it is a smaller set, the Lego City Crawler set is relatively cheap, though perhaps not the best value for money Lego has to offer. Other Volcano sets like the Lego City Volcano Supply Helicopter (60123) or the aforementioned Exploration Base (60124) may offer more bang for your buck.
