Product Description
Robosapien is an innovative remote-controlled robot invented by designer Mark Tilden. Launched in 2004 by Hong Kong toy company WowWee, this revolutionary humanoid can walk, grasp objects and follow commands. The second generation model, Robosapien V2, features a much larger size and speaks several pre-recorded phrases.
Robosapien was the first biomorphic robot on the market and features a variety of programmed movements. It walks like a human, rather than rolling on wheels, and can grasp objects with each hand and throw them with a small amount of force. The original model could make a variety of sounds through its loudspeaker unit, which have since been upgraded to a list of pre-recorded phrases with the launch of Robosapien V2.
If you opt for the full package, you'll get a handheld remote control and a cup for the robot to pick up and throw. The original Robosapien features a black and white colour scheme, but other options are now available, including red and silver.
The infrared remote control is the main tool for operating Robosapien and comprises 21 buttons. It is also possible to control the robot using a computer or tablet equipped with an infrared transmitter. Users can create up to 67 commands by stringing programmed movement commands together. Basic options include leaning, moving the arms, picking up objects, stepping and dancing.
WowWee's Robosapien has spawned a host of variations, including pets and dinosaurs, such as the Roboraptor, and updated versions of the original Robosapien, such as Robosapien Blue and the more advanced Robosapien X, which reacts to sound and touch. A smaller version called RC Minis is also available.
The original Robosapien toy robot has been incredibly popular with children of all ages since its launch, and newer models have been developed to offer a wider range of exciting functions to discover.
