Sage the Boss

Take control of your culinary creations with the Boss "Super Blender" from Sage by Heston Blumenthal. With a powerful 3 Horsepower motor and ProKinetix® blade and bowl system, foods are not just blended but crushed into small particles that are up to 50% smaller than those a standard blender would produce. This means essential nutrients are released that can be absorbed into the body. The Boss is a versatile multifunction machine, with one touch pre-set functions for smoothies (including green smoothies), frozen desserts, soups and ice crushing.

Green smoothies are a must for the nutrition conscious, and the Boss features the first Green Smoothie function to feature in a blender. To get the most nutrition from smoothies, particle size and heat are important factors. In order to release as many nutrients as possible, the cell walls of fruits or vegetables must be broken down to be absorbed by the body. The finer the blending is, usually the more heat is generated, and this destroys the nutrients released. However, the cyclonic action of the Boss' 3 ProKinetix® blades means particles aren't overheated. 80% of the Boss' particles are under 200 microns, as opposed to 20% in a standard blender. Also, as smaller particles taste better, the taste of your smoothies will be enhanced too.

The Boss Blender features three large, sweeping ProKinetix® blades. These create a pushing and pulling action, negating the need to use a paddle while blending as most high powered blenders do. For iced drinks and dishes the device's "Frozen Dessert Wand" is ideal. This appliance features a 2 L commercial grade Triton jug with both metric and imperial measurement markers. The 12 speed dial ranges from a slow stir to a high powered mill and you can assess the progress of your blending on an LCD screen. Cleaning is also simple thanks to an auto clean function, which is particularly useful for individuals who are pressed for time.

Along with the conventional blending settings used to make milkshakes and smoothies, the Boss offers far more powerful capabilities. Featuring a heating element, its soup programme will yield delicious soup in just 6 minutes. The lid also features a safe steam vent, which releases steam safely from the blender during the 6 minute soup programme. The blades are also powerful enough to mill flour blends and bread mixes, grind seeds into flour, or blend spices and emulsions for sauces.

The Boss' closest rival is the Vitamix Total Nutrition Center (TNC), which has a similar price point. The Vitamix shares similar functions, however it only has a 2 horsepower motor and doesn't feature the "Green Smoothie" programme.
