Product Description

The Wharfedale Diamond 220 are a flawless pair of bookshelf speakers that are unbeaten as a budget model. Neatly designed and a with a balanced sound that has left audiophile experts with nothing negative to report. The 121 predecessor were almost as good, and all creases see to have been ironed out, leaving the 220s as a worthy bargain.

Wharfedale Diamond 220 Performance

For their size the Wharfedale Diamond 220 produce an awesome sound with thick basslines and clear mids and trebles that can handle anything that comes their way. From 70s rock n roll to classical musical, instruments are clear and distinguishable. They perform particularly well on a decent pair of speaker stands.

Sound Design

The Wharfedale Diamond 220 have a neater finish than their predecessor, which was what irked reviewers in the past. Whereas the 121s cabinet comprised of chipboard and MDF (Medium Density Fireboard) which resulted in a rather uneven finish. Improvements to the 221s include a smoother finish that is ripple-free. With these improvements comes improvements in sound such as dampening resonances and allowing more of the driver units to shine. A larger magnet on the mid/bass driver also enhances the speakers' responsiveness.
