Everyone Can Play
To help include everyone in family games, Parkers Trivial Pursuit has been updated to include cards for both kids and adults. The classic game includes 2,400 questions on cards about “the things you know” with sections such as Entertainment, Geography and history. the family version opens this up to younger kids by providing 1,2000 questions for kids and 1200 for adults, coming on colourful cards. There are 300 cards in total, so there is sure to be plenty of gameplay time.
Rules?
The aim of the game is to be the first player or team to fill the scoring token. The scoring token is filled by successfully answering the general knowledge questions. Different coloured wedges represent the different knowledge areas. Dark blue cards are aimed at those fourteen years and older. The lighter blue cards are suitable for younger players. How far each player can move on the board is determined by a roll of the dice, and the colour of the spoke determines the knowledge area each player should respond to a question from. A wedge of each colour is required to win!
Faster and Simpler Gameplay
For families, getting everyone to sit down and enjoy a game is difficult enough. It has been made far easier with a more relaxed structure and a redesigned board that keeps each player moving. Reviews emphasise that the game is quick to set up and that it is easy to explain the rules to kids. Enjoyment can depend on how much your children actually enjoy trivia, so its worth bearing that in mind. General knowledge can be off-putting if it excludes some players, its great that this family classic has been revised so younger kids can enjoy the fun of testing their trivia.
Other Board Game Options
As board games enjoy an upsurge in popularity, here are some other options to consider. For real trivia junkies and older families, the Trivial Pursuit Master Edition includes even challenging questions. For a more longform family game, Catan is a great option. Finally if kids are not fans of trivia games, try Junior Cluedo for a game that will also test memory skills while being a lot of fun.
