LEGO Star Wars - Geonosis Troopers (75089)

Lego Star Wars Geonosis Troopers (75089) is one of Lego’s smaller star wars sets. The set was inspired by the Battle of Geonosis which takes place in the second film from the Star Wars saga, Attack of the Clones.

This set will appeal to younger children who enjoy epsidoes1, 2 and 3 of Star Wars. Once built you’ll have an AT-ST mini walker with a rapid shooter and four mini figures, two airborne troopers and two other troopers. The set includes 105 pieces and once built the walker is 15 cm high.

One major benefit is that this set includes four Lego mini figures, which makes playing with the set once built a bit more fun. Unfortunately, however, the mini figures are generic Geonosis troopers and not any of the main characters. Each mini figure has a stud blaster, which actually shoots little Lego bullets, these blasters can be found across the Lego Star Wars collection, making them easy to replace when lost. What’s different about this set though, is the rapid shooter on the main walker, which has never been brought out on a Lego product before this one.

The given age range is 6-11, but in fact this set could easily be completed by younger children with supervision as it won’t take very long to complete such a small set.

The main disadvantage to this product is the size when built. This size range of Lego sets may be affordable but come with a much lower pieces:cost ratio than sets for even a few more pounds. Overall, this is a great choice for younger Star Wars fans and for those who like the Clone Wars franchise too. For anyone who already has a few sets of Star Wars Lego and therefore has the main characters it’s an ideal purchase, but for a first-ever Lego Star Wars set, it may be better to get a more familiar option such as the Millennium Falcon, Rey’s Speeder or a TIE Fighter.
