Coleman Event Shelter 15 x 15

The Coleman Event Shelter 15 x 15 is ideal for use in the garden, at a camp-site or for various outdoor parties and events such as family barbecues. As the name suggests, each side of the structure measures 15 feet and the tarp provides a spacious, shaded area that offers protection from the sun and from light rain. Inside the shelter there is space for a large table and chairs, and this would still leave extra space remaining. Alternatively, the interior can be left empty without such furnishings and there will be a copious amount of space for dancing or mingling.

Set-Up & Safety

The structure is easy to set up and can be pitched in about 15 minutes, according to the manufacturer. A lot of thought and expertise has gone into the design of the shelter and it is both stable and durable when standing. It consists of a steel pole frame and a durable polyester flysheet. The flysheet has a PU aluminium coating with a hydrostatic head of 450 mm, which means it will be water resistant in the case of light rain. Coleman's UV guard has also been incorporated into the flysheet and it has a UV guard of SPF50, resulting in excellent protection from strong sunshine on hot sunny days and evenings. For extra stability, guy lines are used on each outer corner, which help to keep the shelter taut and stable. They are designed to be highly visible so as to keep trips and accidents to a minimum.

The structure is fire retardant for added safety. Roof venting is incorporated into the design; this allows air to flow freely through the inner area and prevents the shelter from being lifted in gusty conditions. A nice touch that is included in the interior of the shelter is a large pocket on one of the 'corners' of the structure. Smaller items such as mobile phones or keys may be stored here, and are less likely to get lost among the chaos of a party, for instance.

Useful Accessories

It is possible to adapt the tarp thanks to a number of model-specific accessories that are also available from Coleman. These includes doors, walls and groundsheets, all of which provide a little more warmth and comfort for occasions late in the summer or in early Autumn, for example, when the air may be a little chilly, or they can be used simply to create a more structured arrangement. A connector strip can also be purchased and this connects two shelters together, should you wish to extend the party or accommodate larger gatherings.

Specifications

The model listed above is a 15 x 15 version. When erected, the square-shaped structure measures 4.5 m x 4.5.m, and has a height of 228 cm, providing generous head-height throughout the interior area. There is also smaller version available, measuring 12 x 12 (just over 3.5 metres per side), as well as a deluxe model. The Event Shelter Deluxe costs a good deal more than the non-deluxe models but it offers more space and is designed to stay standing for longer periods of time. The structure is very strong, with stronger poles and fabric than the non-deluxe versions, and can stay up in the garden throughout the summer, or you can keep it pitched on a camp-site for a week or two as needed.

The 15 x 15 shelter is nice and compact when packed away, measuring a neat 102 cm x 26 cm, and can be easily stored in a garage or garden shed. It weighs 18 kg in total so won't add too much weight to the car if, for example, you are taking it away on a camping trip.
