    Gear S2 owner - an upgrader's review
I purchased my Gear S2 just a couple of weeks before Samsung announced their plans to release the Gear S3, so I was extremely lucky to get a good deal on it.

The display is the most obvious upgrade, being noticeably larger it has more real estate to display information, i.e. the weather widget now has enough space to also display precipitation chance along with UV index, below that it even manages to squeeze up/down arrows to cycle through other locations that you may have setup. That's the next noticeable improvement, how responsive the screen is on the S3, on my S2 there were times it would struggle to respond to even gross actions like screen swipes up, down, left and right; the S3, however, I can easily tap on the small arrows on that weather display, despite having pretty large fingers. One other feature that I've noticed is improved is the "turn on" response when you turn your arm to see the watch, the S2 was really unreliable and would often require flicking my wrist back and forth several times to make it illuminate, the S3 turns on much more reliably.

I'm using things like S Health a lot more readily than on the S2, I suspect mainly down to the improved responsiveness of the watch in general; despite being a lazy person, I'm actually finding the inactivity nudges are actually making a difference, which has really surprised me. Doing Dick Tracy impressions is a bit of fun, talking to someone via your watch, there are occassions when it's really handy, i.e. comfortably sitting across the room from your phone, or holding something in your arms and it's easier to swipe your watch screen than dig your phone out of your pocket.

Battery life is yet another improvement: the S2 really did need to be recharged every three days, you could try squeezing a fourth day out of it but it would almost certainly need to be switched into low-power mode, or find it had switched itself off; the S3, meanwhile, I'm finding easily goes four days and you can usually risk a fifth day without too much concern, I haven't had to switch it to low-power mode as yet.

Build quality is as good as the S2 despite the turnable bezel making more noise if you happen to tap on it with your finger; it sounds as if it sits a lot more loosely on the body of the watch, but in reality it feels just as snug and the ratcheting is just as smooth.

Should you upgrade from an S2 to an S3? If it doesn't stretch your budget, I can wholeheartedly say it is a great improvement and to make the jump!

Good watch, premium feel but some niggles
    Good points first....

It feels incredibly solid, good fit, waterproof (and actually is). It is unbelievably accurate at guessing what activity I am doing. It is accurate at steps and sleep monitoring as well as heart rate. The GPS is so fast it's untrue (I'm comparing to a previous device that took minutes to get a fix).

    The bad...

It runs Tizen so app choice is very limited when compared to Android Wear
A real niggle for me here, there needs to be a setting that lets you mute the watch in sync with the phone instead of having to remember to mute both when in quiet surroundings.
some actions, particularly surrounding notifications are not as intuitive as they could be (again comparing with Android Wear!)

All in all, great quality, solid watch. Is it worth £350?? I'm not convinced yet I'm afraid.

Beautiful stylish and classic smartwatch, the ultimate
The Gear S3 classic is a truly classic looking watch. Its sturdy, with polished looks and feels a good weight. This thing can survive water splashes or even dropping into a bowl of water.
The leather straps are supple and evidently strong. The watch fits snugly on the wrist and I have been sleeping with mine ever since.
There are a lot of good things about the appearance of this watch, including changeable straps. The rotating bezel is a winner! It just feels awesome and makes the Gear S3 stand out from the rest of the crowded smartwatch market. The ecosystem of this smartwatch is satisfactorily maturing. There are a considerable number of apps that one can install. I especially like the vast choice of watch faces that one can install. This makes it possible to be able to change the watch faces everyday to make the attire that you will be doning on the day. Notifications worked out of the box for me, and most of the usual, and important phone apps have their notifications sorted for the Gear S3. I can not go into detail about individual apps, but the S health has been the obvious winner for me. It just feels good and inspiring when my watch prompts me to move when I have spent donkey hours seated on the couch. tracking and reporting on my sleep pattern is good.

Great screen, and battery. But it's a tad thick.
The S3 is quite a watch. I had the S2 for a while and loved how it gave me what I needed in a non confusing way. The S3 is more of the same but with longer battery life and larger screen.

The only thing I'm still not sure about is the size of the watch, it's pretty chunky compared to the S2. But I think the battery life and screen size outweigh this negative point.

The operating system is a joy to use compared to Google's version and so far it hasn't crashed on me.

    Very happy with it.

Review summary: Beautiful design is a major plus, according to this review. On top of this, the sharp, clear display of the Samsung Gear S3 Classic is another positive. Plus points also go to the pleasantly long battery life of the device. Major negatives include the fact that the wearable strap being uncomfortable. On another level, the Tizen OS which it has is good, but not as flexible as its Android companion.

Review summary: This review comes out overwhelmingly in favour of the Gear S3 Classic, particularly its design and build quality, which is particularly impressive. As well as that there are the features, such as a long-lasting battery, internal GPS, as well as a smooth operating system. The only real negatives to speak of is the lack of app support, as well as the limited features for those with Apple iOS devices, which is not really a surprise.

Review summary: The animated display of this device, which is always on, is one of the major positives of this review, as well as the Samsung Gear S3 Classic's excellent activity tracking ability. Intuitive OS interface is a pro as well. Negatives are the size of the device on your wrist, the not complete accuracy of its GPS tracking, as well as the overall lack of apps to use with it.

Review summary: Fantastic battery length of the device comes in for praise, as well as its clear and defined screen. Well-design Tizen operating system is also another positive of this review, as well as how good the frontier looks. Downsides include the perceived ugliness of the Classic, its chunkiness which may put off some people, the lack of apps, and the fact that the US model gets more features than the UK version.

Review summary: The "drool-worthy" design of the S3 Classic is one of the cornerstones of this postive-laden review of the device. Others include the excellent build quality in the design of materials like metal and leather, packed full of features to rival the Apple Watch. Despite not having big-name apps and Samsung-specific software for you to adjust to it still is excellent, with its round clockface a huge appeal.
