Measuring tips
Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.
Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.
Remember, feet can expand over a quarter size during a full day's walk so ensure you get the right fit.

For a first pair these have been great!
I started bouldering a year ago and these shoes have been amazing in that time. I've worn them mainly indoors but with the odd adventure outside too. For beginner indoor use I really could not fault these shoes. They aren't too sensitive which lets you be a bit sloppy as a beginner but they work equally well as you become more advanced. Despite the anti-bacterial treatment to the top, I found these shoes got quite smelly but I have been wearing them for 3 nights a week, 3 hours. With some muddy climbs outdoors too. They lasted pretty much bang on a year before I wore out the sole. I would resole them as they are extremely comfy and a really great shoe but I'm going to get a down-turned pair instead. I'll keep my defy's, resole them in the summer and use them for coasteering and muddy outdoor climbs
So I've been bouldering on and off over the last 18 months or so, through this time I've been hiring shoes at £2 a go, I thought id finally get around to investing in a decent pair of shoes.
And by god was it worth it, I find these to be very sturdy shoes, I've used them 3 times now and they fit perfectly around my foot crimping my toes just slightly, I will see how they fair against the test of time but at the minute I'm loving every minute.
I don't think they'd fair too well on outdoor climbs however if you just do indoor climbing and are looking for a shoe to get you started I can't recommend this enough!
