The EA Elektro-Automatik EA-BC 848-05R is a state-of-the-art microprocessor controlled battery charger. They optimise battery life by using a 3-stage charging process for a complete, rapid charging cycle. The chargers in the EA-BC 800 R series can be used to charge lead acid batteries with liquid, gel (Gel Cell) or felt soaked (AGM) electrolyte. If the charger is connected to the battery with the polarity reversed or if the battery is completely discharged (<0.2 x Unom.) charging will not start. Low discharge batteries (>0.2 to <0.9 x Unom.) start with a reduced current precharge cycle. This is followed by a cycle, at full voltage and maximum current until the charging current sinks below 80% of the nominal output current. The third stage is a trickle charge cycle which keeps the total charge in the battery is constant to prevent self-discharge.
