it is seriously good because the rod has four different tips and they all live up to the weight that they can cast
I bought this rod to teach my son to fish with.
I now use it myself, cant really fault the rod, have used it with leads of upto 4 ozs with no trouble.
has handled fish to 6lbs with ease. for the price its a no brainer.
I bought this rod as a spare in case of problems with my main rods, for a tenner I wasn't risking much. A trip to chesil proved bad,(high winds and rain). So we headed for the harbour walls. This rod answered all I put to it, from heavy distance casting to catching 2/4ozs wrasse close to the wall, the thin red tip providing excellent bit detection, while the white tip was more than man enough for a 4oz lead to 50+ yards. Yes the rod creaked a bit with the big leads, but it didn't let go. I believe that Ron Thompson is the budget end for ABU, with that in mind they are not top end but fully capable rods, of which I have acquired more the a few and never had any problem. As a starter or a back up rod I would highly recomend, but remember.its a tenner and this should be in mind when comparing it to the more expensive rod that are about. Treated with care it will last a long time, I have 2 RT rods that are 15yrs old and seen some heavy service.
Quality AND value. A pre-christmas BARGAIN..
Brilliant rod for the money.
"Anyone can fish" when they Go Outdoors..
Purchased 2 of these as xmas pressies last year. Great starter rod or a rod for the casual fisherman.
Pros
5 tips gives you 5 rods in one. The rods have been used for lure fishing, float fishing, mackerel feathering off the beach and some bottom fishing. This is the key benefit of this rod.
Price wise its a steal.
The rod feels light and handles well.
Cons
1 rod lasted 2 sessions before we noticed the eye ring had chipped. We thought about buying another as they are a decent basic all rounder. However we opted to spend a bit more money and get a rod more specific to our needs.
Used this great little ( boat rod) beach casting at chesil. Not it's intended use but with the quiver tips gave great bite pickup. Easy to use no fuss , surf beach rod
Great rod,the tips cover most situations, ideal off a pier,Great bite indication,Stupendous value, will suit any newcomer, takes fixed spool or multiplier reels.Super duper.
best rod ive owned, use the heaviest tip for beachcasting 8 oz leads and the lightest for light boat fishing. so good ive two now, it's great even if l use it just for spare tips.
i only fish a few times a year with my son so when i tried one of these on Deal pier it was great and the tide picked up so i just changed the tip.
since then i have brought another 3 so me and my son have 2 each
MANY THANKS
