Comfort, performance and versatility with retro style - a spacious and sturdy base tent with a traditional look.
Robens' Outback tents give you an easy, comfortable and stylish outdoor experience. Their distinctive look harks back to camping's olden days, but they're made using technical, breathable HydroTex® Polycotton fabric with a water repellent treatment and offer plenty of customisation options, so their versatility and warm-weather comfort really sets them apart from the norm.
The Robens Prospector is reminiscent of vintage American pioneers' tents, but boasts great technical performance, easy adaptability and total comfort and convenience.
Its large single chamber will sleep 12 campers but by adding the Inner Tent you can have a dedicated sleeping area for 6, with a living/storage space at the front. If you're camping in cooler weather, or need to feed a crowd, you can use a chimneyed stove inside (elasticated stovepipe port, zip flap in the groundsheet). And the optional Tarp extension adds extra shelter to the front and doorway, and even lets you link two Prospector tents together to make a huge base camp setup if you're in a large group.
The sturdy steel A-frame and ridge pole keep it stable, and guyline retainers help to make packing it away a hassle-free job.
It comes in two bags, one for the tent and one for the poles, to make it easier to carry:
Tent bag - 16kg, 94 x 34 cm
Pole bag - 24.6kg, 88 x 25 cm

We bought this tent last year and went out in September to the New Forest.
We were hit by severe storms that ripped some nylon tents on the park. It was noisy but stable and we stayed dry! In the following couple of days we saw many others with lesser quality tents strike camp and leave, they were wet and damaged. Second part of the holiday was superb, hot and sunny but humid after the rain. The ventilation maintained the tent cool and dry.
This year no storms but some torrential rain which the tent dealt with easily. We bought the awning as well for extra space and would suggest others consider as well.
Overall a superb tent of outstanding quality and very sturdily built. Poles are heavy duty and a tight fit but helps with the rigidity in storms. Ventilation is excellent in hot humid conditions which support the benefits of a good poly-cotton tent. I would have no hesitation in recommending this quality tent to couples or small families who want a tent for all conditions and weathers. Exceptional value for money. Our last tent lasted 24 years!
We suggest you 'practice' erecting the tent after watching the Robens erection video, work from the front to the back, Loose peg the groundsheet, front frame and peg the front guys. If you are short like my wife and I you might need a stool to reach the roof line poles. It is a tight fit between sections. Finally tighten all guys and pegs, including on the awning if fitted. The inner tent is just as well built and very versatile as is the awning.
