Youthful with a very pure blackcurrant bouquet and a stunning palate that’s both elegant and intensely fruity.
While only small (just six hectares) Château Haut-Corbin owns some very prestigious plots, with mature vineyards that survived the devastating frosts of 1956 along its higher slopes. Vines are predominantly Merlot, which gives the wines their silky definition, with Cabernet Sauvignon making up about 15% of the blend, and 5% Cabernet Franc adding finesse and intensity. Château Haut-Corbin has many different types of soil, with deposits of wind blown sands on the higher plots giving the terroir its distinct personality. For maturation, Winemaker Philippe Dambrine aged the wine in large French barrels for around 13 months to advance the wine ready for bottling.
