The Adafruit Capacitive Touch Shield for Arduino lets your next project get super interactive with 12 x touchable objects as its user interface. The requirements for the touchable objects is pretty broad, they can be made of metal, or contain water like fruit or be conductive like the graphite in a pencil. It talks to the Arduino via I2C keeping the demands on the microcontroller low. There are lots of possibilities with this shield, for example pair it with an Arduino Leonardo to make a keyboard-like interface, or add a sound board to make your vegetables sing. The shield has 12 x pairs of holes that are just right for attaching crocodile clips to connect your chosen objects.
Supplied as a fully assembled and tested shield plus strips of 0.1in. pitch header pins for you to solder on. Adafruit provide a free tutorial and software to help get you started. We also supply packs of crocodile clips. Water containing objects include things like fruit, vegetables, a damp sponge and humans. It doesn't include bottles, balloons and similar items as their outer surface is non-conductive.
*Customers looking to resell on eBay or Amazon should contact Adafruit directly.
