Our room was comfortable but I would not say 4Star My rating would be 3star we asked when we sat to order what we could have for our 2 courses and was told we had £18 pp and anything over we would pay extra my main meal was lamb shank and £18.50 so no 2 courses for me my husband was £16.50 so not 2 course for him either we bought a bottle of wine was not offered a glass of wine each as we should have been food was good but do not think they have embraced the 2 course meal here at all as unless we ordered the cheapest main meal on the menu we could not have had a starter as well for under £18...think this needs to be reviewed as we have had many of these breaks and usually have a menu for 2 courses which is what we have paid for!!

Lovely hidden getaway

Booked The Fat Lamb as a birthday surprise for my fiancé. Stayed for 2 nights which included dinner on the first night. Wonderful location as in the middle of nowhere however close enough to either the Yorkshire Dales or Lake District for plenty of walking or ambling around the tourist parts. The room was clean, warm and with a beautiful view over the moors which at the time were covered in snow and sheep! Whilst the room was welcoming I was slightly disappointed as it was in desperate need of updating. Every part of it creaked (oldbuildings usually do) along with a creaky, lumpy hard bed. The lighting at the dressing table wasn’t adequate for applying make up etc. A table lamp would’ve helped. The bathroom was really clean with no traces of mould or mildew which is a bonus as most places do have problems in that area. The food was totally amazing both at breakfast and dinner as we ate there both nights. Service was excellent and all the staff were friendly, helpful and cheerful. Overall our stay was lovely. Just maybe a new mattress would help any future guests!

Given gift by our kids to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary. We really enjoyed looking through 300 choices before selecting The Fat Lamb. We didn't know the dales so it was a perfect base from which to explore. It was so good we got a similar package for brother-in-laws retirement.
